Lecture on Women Leadership in Indian Politics: Dr. Giani Devi
Guest addressing the students.
Nilokheri, October 16: The Department of Political Science organized an extension lecture on the topic of women leadership in Indian politics at Guru Brahmanand Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Anjanthali. Associate Professor of Government Women's College, Karnal, Dr. Vipin Kumari addressed the students as the keynote speaker. Throwing light on the figures of women's participation in the Indian political system since independence, she said that the number of women in the current Lok Sabha is only 74, which is very less in terms of half the population. The 13 women elected in the just concluded Haryana Assembly elections are also women with political background.
They come from ordinary families only. Even today it is very difficult for a woman from an ordinary family to succeed in politics. This situation needs to change and this is not possible without bringing a change in the thinking of the society. Half the population must get its proper representation. Principal Dr. Giani Devi thanked the guests. The entire program was coordinated and conducted by Assistant Professor of Political Science Dr. Aarti Bhatnagar. On this occasion Prof. Anjubala, Prof. Dalveer Kaur, Dr. Geetika, Dr. Usha, Dr. Urmila, Dr. Sulochana, Dr. Dimple, Dr. Meenakshi, Dr. Radhika, Prof. Sushma, Prof. Anu, Prof. Priyal, Prof. Shivani, Prof. Shefali, Seema, etc. were present.
